Congress about to "just say yes" to permanent secret vote counting
By Nancy Tobi
Centralized control of voting is a form of tyranny,
pure and simple. Joseph Stalin is said to have explained why: "Those who cast
the votes decide nothing. Those who count the votes decide everything."

Ohio, the DOJ scandal and "Thor," the god of voter suppression
By Bob Fitrakis
The current scandal involving the firing of U.S.
attorneys cannot be separated from the Bush administration's scheme to suppress
black, poor and working class voters. In order to divert attention from its
voter suppression tactics that won Bush the White House in 2000 and 2004, the
Bush administration created the myth of "voter fraud." Using fake
"voting rights" organizations, obscure groups to finance civil suits
and pressure the U.S. Department of Justice to bring criminal charges against
voter registration organizations, Karl Rove and his political operatives like
Mark F. "Thor" Hearne have succeeded in undermining the United States'
democracy.

The evils of lesser evil voting
By Joel S. Hirschhorn
Condemn progressives for voting enthusiastically for
Democrats and the inevitable response is something like just imagine how much
worse voting for Republicans would be. Similarly, many true conservatives and
Libertarians see voting for Republicans as a necessary evil.

The GOP's cyber election hit squad
By Steven
Rosenfeld & Bob Fitrakis
Did the most powerful Republicans in America have the
computer capacity, software skills and electronic infrastructure in place on
Election Night 2004 to tamper with the Ohio results to ensure George W. Bush's
re-election?

Bye-bye to Cleveland GOP election chair Bob Ballots for Bush Bennett
By Bob Fitrakis & Harvey Wasserman
Ohios Bob Ballots for Bush Bennett, an essential
player in putting George W. Bush back in the White House in 2004, is no long
chair of the Cuyahoga County Board of Elections. His milestone resignation
leaves a legacy of scandal, recrimination, massive voter purges, felony
convictions and a pivotal role in a stolen presidential election.

By
Jeffrey S. Victor, Ph.D.
France
and the United States have many similar social problems, such as massive
illegal immigration, poverty and youth violence in urban areas, and declining
levels of educational achievement. Are French politicians able to offer some
new ideas to solve the social problems that we share?

Two big victories boost Ohios election protection movement
By Bob Fitrakis
& Harvey Wasserman
In a victory for election protection activists, Ohios
powerful GOP Chair Bob Bennett will be forced to face a public hearing on his
removal as chair of the Cuyahoga (Cleveland) Board of Elections. And in a
second triumph, Ohio Secretary of State Jennifer Brunner has agreed, as part of
a legal settlement, to take possession of the ballots and other key documents
from the disputed 2004 election that gave George W. Bush a second term in the
White House.

Soros kicked AIPAC. Obama kicks Soros. Lets kick all three.
By Lenni Brenner
It is a sign of the changing political times that the
March 12 American Israel Public Affairs Committee Washington conference received
much more candid journalistic treatment than AIPAC events have ever received.
The NY Times March 14 report, Clinton and Obama Court Jewish Vote, got right
to the point:

More potential 2004 election illegalities rock Ohios Hocking County as Cleveland braces for a legal firestorm
By Bob Fitrakis & Harvey Wasserman
As the third of four members of the Cuyahoga
(Cleveland) County Board of Elections resigns under pressure from Ohios new
secretary of state, additional potential illegalities in Hocking County have
resurfaced with new weight against a GOP executive director already under
serious fire.

New Ohio evidence exposes apparently illegal 2004 recount activity by Hocking Countys GOP election director, and a stinging complaint is filed in Cleveland
By Bob Fitrakis
& Harvey Wasserman
The Republican executive director of the Hocking
County Board of Elections (BOE) may have written at least one memo outlining
possibly illegal behavior during the scandal-ridden 2004 Ohio presidential
recount. And an explosive five-count complaint has been filed by Ohios new
Secretary of State Jennifer Brunner against two GOP directors in Cuyahoga
County. It is built in part on evidence gleaned from the federal report issued
by Congressman John Conyers (D-MI) after the 2004 election, from stories broken
at the FreePress.org website, and
evidence gathered by grassroots voting rights activists in Cleveland.

Speaking Truth to Power responds to ChoicePoint
By Carolyn
Baker
On March 19, Speaking Truth to Power featured an
article written by me entitled Godfather
Government: A Way Of Life Is Not A Scandal in which I quoted Greg Palast
regarding Choicepoint, a controversial data-gathering company and its spurious
practices in relation to the 2000 election, its connection with the Republican
party, and its information gathering and dispensing services with regard to
individuals and organizations. The following day, I received an email from
Chuck Jones, Choicepoints Director of External Affairs who stated:

Forced resignations and stiff prison sentences intensify the escalating blowback from Ohios 2004 stolen election
By Bob Fitrakis
& Harvey Wasserman
In a bold move to restore trust to elections in
Ohio, Ohios newly-elected Secretary of State Jennifer Brunner has requested
the resignation of all four members of the Cuyahoga County Board of Elections.
The two Democrats and two Republicans were formally asked to resign by the
close of business on March 21. Cuyahoga County includes the heavily Democratic
city of Cleveland. Brunner is a Democrat who was elected, last November, to be
Ohios Secretary of State.

Election fraud, my ass
By Paul Rogat Loeb
They just wanted to protect
the sanctity of the vote. Thats the administrations pious explanation for why
they fired eight U.S. Attorneys who were Republican enough for Bush to have
appointed them in the first place.

Taking democracy seriously
By Joel S. Hirschhorn
As surely as politicians lie, citizen apathy
produces democracy atrophy. Much more than a right -- in a democracy voting is
an irrevocable civic duty. No mental gymnastics can help you jump over this
ugly reality: Voter turnout in all American elections averages markedly less
than half of eligible voters. This disgrace must be fixed.
