Dmitry Medvedev would not say Wednesday whether he will seek re-election as president of Russia next year.
"Such decisions should be made at a time when the conditions are right and they can make a conclusive political impact," he said at a news conference at the Skolkovo research center in Moscow, RIA Novosti reported.
"In this situation, we will not have to wait for a long time," he added.
Medvedev and Prime Minister Vlad have made it clear that one of them will run in the March 11, 2012, presidential election. They say an announcement will come soon.
