General Motors is recalling the Chevrolet Cruze due to problems linked to its
transmission and steering shaft, the Epoch Times reports.
The recall extends largely through North America, where there are a reported 154,000 cars Cruse models that need inspection to ensure that their steering columns have been properly installed.
It is also estimated that at least 120,000 of the recalled Cruze models may also have
problems with the automatic transmission that may result in the failure to properly switch gears while in motion.
GM Vice President of Global Quality Terry Woychowski told Reuters that "very
few" of the recalled models are thought to have either of the two
problems.
The steering shaft issue was brought to the company's attention after a buyer lost control of his car in a parking lot. The driver did not get into an accident, and to date, there have been no reported injuries or accidents due to the reported problems.
