Melinda Gates joined President Barack Obama last week, after he traveled to Boston to visit a classroom at TechBoston Academy and discuss how education is a shared responsibility.

Obama toured the facility with Education Secretary Arne Duncan and Melinda Gates, co-chairwoman of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. Obama remarks will discuss how government, business, philanthropists and communities share a responsibility to promote innovative education strategies to prepare students to compete in a 21st century economy.

The president attended a Democratic Party fundraiser Tuesday night at the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston before returning to Washington. He told an audience that House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif. who served as House Speaker before Republicans took control of the House in January will "go down as one of the greatest speakers in our history" for her role in Washington's response to the worst economic downturn since the Great Depression.

"Not only were we able to yank this economy out of the recession," he said. "Not only were we able to get this economy going again, that in the last 15 months we've seen the economy add jobs but under Nancy's leadership we were able to achieve historic healthcare legislation we were able to get 'Don't Ask Don't Tell' repealed.

"We didn't just rescue the economy we put it on the strongest footing for the future," Obama said.
