Julianne Moore, star of the critically-lauded comedy "The Kids Are All Right," has been cast as former vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin in the upcoming HBO movie "Game Change."

HBO Films announced Wednesday that Moore, a four-time Academy Award nominee, will star in the movie.  "Game Change" follows John McCain's 2008 presidential campaign from his choice of the then-Alaska governor as his running mate through their defeat in the general election.

The film, which is based on the bestselling book of the same name by John Heilemann and Mark Halperin, will be helmed by Jay Roach. Danny Strong, who also wrote the script for HBO's film "Recount," will pen the screenplay.

HBO did not mention any other cast members for the project, and did not say when cameras would start rolling.
