Julianne Moore is set to play former Alaskan Governor Sarah Palin in the small-screen adaptation of the book, "Game Change," HBO confirmed on Wednesday.

The four-time Oscar nominee is best known for her work in "The Kids Are All Right," "A Single Man," "The Hours," "Hannibal," "An Ideal Husband," "Nine Months," "Boogie Nights," "The End of the Affair" and "Far from Heaven."

People.com reported Wednesday Moore had been cast in the Palin project. However, the Web site said actors hadn't been hired yet to play Sen. John McCain, the Republican nominee for the 2008 presidential election, or President Barack Obama, the Democratic winner.

Palin was McCain's running mate.
