U.S. recording artist Etta James is being treated for infections of the blood and the urinary tract at a California hospital, her son said Friday.
The Los Angeles Times said the 73-year-old "At Last" singer also is battling dementia and leukemia.
"It was a really bad infection," Sametto James told the Riverside Press-Enterprise of his mother's hospitalization this week. "Right now, she's doing a lot better."
The younger James said she is expected to stay in the hospital until her infections are gone.
The report did not name the hospital the singer where was being treated.
