A Washington state high schooler revealed she spent 6 1/2 months faking a pregnancy as part of her senior project.
Gaby Rodriguez, 17, a student at Toppenish High School, told fellow students during a Wednesday assembly her pregnancy had been faked as part of a social experiment to analyze "stereotypes, rumors and statistics," the Yakima (Wash.) Herald-Republic reported Friday.
"I'm fighting against those stereotypes and rumors because the reality is I'm not pregnant," Rodriguez the students.
She said only a few people, including her mother, boyfriend and Trevor Greene, the school's principal, were aware of the project.
Greene said calls have been pouring into the school about Rodriguez and her project.
"It's gone big; it's been quite a day," he said Thursday. "We didn't anticipate that by the end of the day we'd be getting calls from, like, the 'Today' show."
