Nancy Pelosi resumed her busy schedule as the leader of a congressional delegation in Rome this week after a brief hospital visit forced her to cancel early meetings. Pelosi--the first Italian-American to ever hold the job of House Speaker--was invited to lead the delegation celebrating the 150th anniversary of Italy's unification.
After landing in Rome from Afghanistan early Monday, Pelosi felt 'unwell' and was advised to seek medical attention. She was briefly admitted and examined before resuming her schedule.
According to the Associated Press, Pelosi held talks with Gianfranco Fini, the speaker of the lower house of Italy's parliament Monday afternoon. The talks had originally been planned for earlier in the day.
In the evening, Pelosi attended a reception at the American ambassador's residence in Rome, and appeared to be in good health.
