Children across the United States are preparing for the last entry of the epic Lemony Snicket literary series with "The End," due in bookstores Friday.
The 13th and final installment in the immensely popular children's books by author Daniel Handler will be released by HarperCollins on a day befitting the dark literary work, Friday the 13th, The New York Daily News reports.
While the previous 12 installments of "A Series of Unfortunate Events" have focused on the adventures of the Baudelaires, three young orphans narrowly surviving living with their evil uncle Count Olaf, Handler has warned readers that the young trio's luck may be up in the new book.
The 36-year-old author has promised that this last volume in the series, which spawned a 2004 film starring comedian Jim Carrey, will resolve the fate of Olaf and his three charges, Violet, Sunny and Klaus Baudelaire.
