Spanish actor Javier Bardem says he will play a villain in the next movie about British secret agent James Bond.

"I'm very excited because my parents took me to watch the [Bond] movies and I saw all of them, so to play that is going to be fun," Bardem told ABC's "Nightline." "They chose me to play this man, but I cannot give you many details."

Bardem won an Oscar for his portrayal of a serial killer in the 2007 drama "No Country For Old Men."

The BBC said the as-yet-untitled 23rd Bond film is expected to be called "Skyfall" when it is released next year.

Daniel Craig is to play agent 007 for the third time in the movie, which is being directed by Sam Mendes.

"Quantum of Solace," the last movie in the Bond franchise, was released in 2008.
