Police say they're unable to confirm reports one person died and a dozen were injured in a stadium roof collapse in Enschede, Netherlands, Thursday.

Local media reported a portion of De Grolsch Veste stadium roof fell after two girders snapped, Radio Netherlands Worldwide reported.

A witness said people were on the roof when it collapsed.

"It was like a major storm was coming and everything in the building began to shake," the witness told local newspaper TC Tubantia. "At first we thought it was an earthquake."

Heavy equipment was being used to try to raise the collapsed section, officials said.

De Grolsch Veste stadium, home to the FC Twente soccer club, is undergoing a second round of renovations to increase its seating capacity to 30,000.
