Simon Cowell will be shown Monday on the Piers Morgan program on CNN. In the interview, Cowell takes his time to fire back against recent criticism that he has played a role in the demise of the music industry.

Cowell has recently taken heat from Elton John for taking over the music charts and having killed talent with his television programs that exploit the music industry. Cowell, 51, is well known for judging the singing competitions The X Factor and his help in the American success for Fox Television, American Idol.

Cowell shot back at the English singer-songwriter during an appearance on Piers Morgan Tonight, telling John to Take the 1 million you make from a private gig and nurture young musicians like I do.

Morgan also pointed out, Certain people out there, and you - you know, youve seen the criticism - will say that you have single handedly destroyed the music industry.

Cowell immediately went on the defense, saying such claims were absolute rubbish.

I mean, it has no affect at all, he said about the effect his shows have on the music industry. Look, it doesnt matter whether youve got a top 100 or a top 200. You know, what you want is people back into stores buying music. I mean, how can that be a bad thing?

Meanwhile, the talent judge also commented on how he feels about the new American Idol.

I personally think it is a better show than last year. I genuinely do, he said. I think what theyve got is that it feels to me that theyve got their energy back, that theyre confident, that theyre competitive.
