U.S. pop star Madonna has been booked to perform at the Super Bowl XLVI halftime show in February, the NFL and NBC announced.
The 53-year-old recording artist will be accompanied during the show by performers from Cirque du Soleil.
Madonna has sold more than 300 million records during her 3-decade-long career.
The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee wrote, directed and produced "W.E.," a film opening in limited release this month.
The Feb. 5 Super Bowl game at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis will air on NBC.
More than 162 million viewers in the United States watched last year's Super Bowl halftime show.
Recent halftime acts include The Black Eyed Peas, The Who, Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, Prince, the Rolling Stones, Paul McCartney and U2.
