U.S. actress Diane Keaton reveals in her new memoir how she fell in love with film legend Woody Allen, saying she loved him before she even knew him.
Keaton, whose memoir, "Then Again," is excerpted in the November issue of Vogue, said she met Allen in 1968 and fell for him during rehearsals for "Play It Again, Sam," in which Allen played the role of Allan Felix.
"I fell for Allan as scripted but for Woody as well. How could I not? I was in love with him before I knew him. He was Woody Allen. Our entire family used to gather around the TV set and watch him on Johnny Carson. He was so hip, with his thick glasses and cool suits," Keaton said in the excerpt.
Keaton said she was most taken by his manner "his way of gesturing, his hands, his coughing and looking down in a self-deprecating way while he told jokes like 'I couldn't get a date for New Year's Eve so I went home and I jumped naked into a vat of Roosevelt dimes.'"
The Oscar-winning actress praised Allen's physical appearance. "He was even better-looking in real life," she said. "He had a great body, and he was physically very graceful."
