Confessions of a former Reagan Republican

Today is a very sad day for me.

Like most Americans, my psyche has been bruised and battered by the repeated assaults from this governments attacks on the rule of law, and violations of our constitutional protections. Perhaps that was their aim. I know that the process of desensitization in the area of mind control or behavior modification is as old as the hills, but when something happens to bring into focus just how far it has gone it is still shocking. The constant drumbeat of propaganda, along with the graphic pictures and videos of the wars in Iraq, Afghanistan, Lebanon, etc. seems to have taken its toll.

Now given the fact that I am 60 years old and a veteran of the antiwar movement of the '60s and '70s, I suppose I thought I was immune from this process but alas that seems not to be the case. Over the years I had evolved into a conservative Republican during the Reagan years because I actually thought that the democrats were the problem. I mean Jimmy Carter did come across as weak willed idiot, right?

It was 9-11 that it hit me like a slap in the face and woke me up from my stupor when I felt that old familiar sickening feeling which I felt as a boy watching Jack Kennedys head explode in Dallas. Little did I realize that the government of the United States had been overthrown on that dark day in November of 1963.

On 9-11 I decided that if it was the last thing I ever did, I would find out what the real reason the towel-aban had attacked us! Well that was five years ago and I had no idea what was in store for me. Over the last five or six years I sat in front of this computer and painstakingly dug through all the propaganda and garbage out there on the net, peeling through the layers and layers of lies and deception only to find more, until slowly, one piece at a time, the facts began to emerge, painting an ugly picture of lies, deception, and murder that has stretched back over 100 years!

From the federal government's power grab over the states as a result of the Civil War, to the phony attack on the battleship Maine in Havana, to our involvement in WWI and, later, WWII as a result of Japans surprise attack on Pearl Harbor (which was announced one week before the attack in the Hilo Hawaii newspaper in large headlines!), to the Gulf of Tonkin incident, which now has been proven to be an out and out lie; to Operation Northwoods, which outlined the militarys plan to fake an attack by Fidel Castro to justify our invasion of Cuba; the government of this country has established a well worn pattern of lies, and manipulation wrapped up in the American flag to whip up the populace and get them on board with whatever criminal enterprise they had planned at the time. I guess some things never change. But then why should it, it works so well!

Even recent history in America is replete with examples of this magic formula such as Waco, Oklahoma City, and New York on 9-11 when we witnessed the demonization of the particular target group usually followed by some phony attack, which then is blamed on the boogeymen, followed by the governments announcement that they need more power and less constitutional restraints to defend us from the enemys threats.

Time after time, we believe the lies like some naive lover who, no matter how outrageous the lies are, continues to believe because he/she is so much in love with the liar. So we continue to accept the lies because we love our country and we cant believe that they would lie to us and do things like that, despite mountains of evidence to the contrary, and all the while the world laughs at us for being such fools, until their amusement turns to contempt and then to hatred as one by one they become victims of our government's criminal activities which rape, plunder and pillage them without apology.

In the neighborhood where I grew up they used to have a saying  What goes around, comes around. I didnt know at the time, because I was not a student of the scriptures until much later in life, but this is a fundamental spiritual principal or law and I truly believe it with all my heart now. You see, no just God could permit this pattern of evil to continue without a day of reckoning and the God that I serve will surely demand that the scales be balanced sooner or later.

The saddest part of all is that, as He has done throughout history, He will probably use our enemies to carry out His judgment against us and the worst part is that when it happens, I wont even be able to pray for His mercy on this country because we have chosen to abandon His word, exchanging the truth for lies, good for evil, and have traded prosperity, wisdom, and His blanket of protection for greed, corruption and moral bankruptcy which has seared our consciences until we kill and rape our own children and murder people all over the world who have done nothing to us !

Make no mistake America! There is a payday coming, and just as surely as night follows day, when it does, the horror will make everything before it pale in comparison. Perhaps the most horrible of all will be the total despair we feel as we realize that we chose to throw away our country and our childrens future and invite His wrath because we were too lazy to think for ourselves, to stand up for what is right, and to fight back against the criminals who have enslaved us with greed, corruption and lies.

If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.    2 Chronicles 7:14

I cant think of any better advice then that!
