A California man was arrested for allegedly making death threats against Sen. Barbara Boxer, according to police.

During the week of July 10, Boxer's office received threatening messages after-hours, police in San Rafael said in a report.

The police then launched an investigation that led them to identifying the caller as Kevin Joseph O'Connell, 47 of San Rafael, who they arrested Saturday morning.

O'Connell was charged with one count of making criminal threats and is scheduled to first appear in court Tuesday.

His bail was set at $500,000.
